Meet The Maker
Greetings! I’m Sarah, the maker and uh… head cat behind Cat Claws, a polymer clay jewelry brand based in Singapore.
If you had told 15 year old me that in my twenties, I’d end up starting a passion project based on being artsy and creative, I would have eaten my hat. No seriously, I still shudder in shame at all my schoolmates laughing at the hearts I used to draw in our cards and letters that ended up more butt-like than I intended.
From butts, we move on to STDs – that’s how I ended up falling in love with the medium of clay. A university project encouraged us to spread our wings and represent medical humanities concepts in unforeseen ways, and I chose to present common misconceptions around STDs as clay earrings. Ok, so maybe I was always a little creative? Or… crazy?
Now I make earrings as both hobby and small business, bringing to life all the whims and fancies of my strange brain, that may or may not include butts. Only time will tell.
Psst: My mum told me to tell you that she’s actually the head cat of the family and I am her mere minion.
